LUO BIAO

Luo Biao Singapore Symphony Orchestra violinist since 2001. Before coming to Singapore, Luo Biao worked as full time tutti violinist for Richmond Symphony Orchestra in Virginia, Principal Viola for Toledo Symphony in Ohio and tutti Viola for Malaysian Philharmonic.

Besides playing with SSO, Luo Biao has also been teaching and conducting string ensembles. He has worked with string ensembles from Primary schools, Secondary schools and Polytechnics. Many of the schools have continuously achieved outstanding results in the Singapore Youth Festival. He also conducted Youth Sinfonia of Singapore National Youth Orchestra in concert. 

Luo Biao started learning Violin at 6, from his father, Luo Huixin. His other teachers include FeiFei Wu, Richard Ferrin and Heidi Castleman. He was sponsored by his teacher Richard Ferrin to study with him at Roosevelt University, Chicago. After that, He went on to study with Hidi Castleman at Cleveland institute of Music.

In 1994, Mr Luo was awarded second prize in American String Teachers’ National Solo Viola Competition.

Currently, Mr Luo as strings ensemble conductor has joined Melody Strings Art Center.
