Manlindes is honored to be invited to participate in the overseas music experience study program in Tokyo, Japan in June 2019.
We would like to thank Hitmaker Global Academy, the organizer of this overseas music study program, for giving students the opportunity to experience and learn about local culture and music performance in Japan, allowing them to grow in their musical journey while improving their all-round skills.
The trip was participated by 11 students from the Manlindes Children’s String Orchestra aged between 5 and 12.
The trip also included cultural exchange activities with local students and playing with award-winning Japanese college wind ensembles. In brand new performance venues, stages, and Japan’s top recording studios, students experienced and learned about diverse music education and local culture, which challenged their coping abilities and stimulated their potential. Growing up on this trip became an important chapter in their musical journey, bringing endless joy to students and parents.
Overseas Music Study Program activities are as follows:
Day 1
– Led by Jeff Miyahara & Kuraaki Hori at victor recording studio.
The ASAKA DAIICHI JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL orchestra is one of the best symphony orchestras in Japan, and they have won first prizes in numerous performance competitions. This is also the first time they have collaborated with a string orchestra, and we are honored to take this opportunity for students to exchange ideas and learn from each other.
Day 3
The Ghibli Museum is a museum that showcases Japanese animation. It is located in Inokashira Park in Mitaka, a city west of Tokyo, Japan. The museum combines a children’s museum, a science museum, and an art gallery, and is dedicated to the art and technique of animation. Tickets to the Ghibli Museum are only accepted if purchased in advance, and must be purchased before they sell out. The kids had a blast here.
Mr. Keiichi Kurokawa is a Japanese music composer, music editor and band conductor. He has edited music for the American Riverside Medley (wind band/bass band), Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, Japan Self-Defense Force Central Orchestra, etc….
This is a rare opportunity.
Day 4
The shamisen is a traditional Japanese stringed instrument, similar to the three-stringed instrument from China. It consists of two parts: a slender neck and a square sound box. The shamisen is usually made of silk, but can also be made of nylon. When playing, the player needs to use a plectrum made of ivory, tortoise shell, etc. to pluck the strings. The sound is quiet and pure, simple and melodious.
Allow students to experience and appreciate traditional Japanese musical instruments.
Finally, I would like to thank the organizer of this event, Hitmaker Global Academy, all the performers, conductors, teachers, recording team, photography team, etc. in Japan, and the principal, teachers, parents and students of Manlindes. Thank you.
